Message from the newly elected President Perry Richardson

I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and, for those of you who may not know me, give you some further details about my experience in the wall and ceiling industry.

I have worked in the wall and ceiling industry for over 30 years. The majority of my career has been spent as a contractor, although I did spend some time as a plasterboard distributor. Today, I am a involved in the manufacture and distribution of plastering compounds through our company Pro Plaster.

I have been an active member of the AWCI for over 25 years , and have held numerous positions at both a state and national level. I consider my appointment to the role of President an honour. For me, it is real opportunity to contribute to a great industry that has given so much to myself, and my family.

I look forward to the next two years working with the AWCI team in all the states, and its board, to map and implement a plan for the future growth of AWCIANZ.

Covid-19 has changed the way that we all operate and has created challenges that we would never have dreamed of. But it has also forced us to adapt and change, and that is exactly what the AWCIANZ must do as well.

Hopefully, the state and federal governments will come to some workable arrangement that allows us to get back to some level of normality within Australia. I look forward to our industry’s safe return to work.

I am also looking forward to meeting as many AWCIANZ members as possible. And, with a little luck, we may even be able to hold our National Conference next year.

In the meantime, I am more than happy to hear from you about the issues you might be facing, or any suggestions that you might have to help us build a stronger AWCI and deliver even greater value for all our members.

Regards,

Perry Richardson

President AWCIANZ
